MAPPING PREJUDICE

Mapping Prejudice is a crowd-sourced effort led by geographers, historians, digital humanists, and community activists aiming to unearth and record racial covenants through mapping.

Team: Kirsten Delegard, Ryan Mattke, Kevin Ehrman-Solberg, Penny Petersen, Marguerite Mills, Denise Pike, + many volunteers

MAPPING INEQUALITY

Mapping Inequality is a collaborative effort to digitally archive the histories and policies of redlining, urban renewal, and other practices in order to understand their impacts and their continual contributions to inequities and wealth disparities today.

Team: the University of Richmond’s Digital Scholarship Lab, Virginia Tech, the Digital Curation Innovation Center (DCIC) at the College of Information Studies at University of Maryland, and Johns Hopkins University

A Right to Establish a Home Exhibit is a former physical exhibit that explores the Edith and Arthur Lee family’s experience buying a house in South Minneapolis in the 1930’s, the racism and violence that ensued, and the historic and present-day relationship of housing and race in Minnesota.

OWNING UP

Owning Up: Racism and Housing in Minneapolis is a digital and former physical exhibit that explores the current issues and history of racial housing discrimination and segregation in Minneapolis, along with the policies and social practices that shaped it.
